Carvalha das Éguas corral and shelter

Vilar da Veiga, Terras de Bouro

Curral da Carvalha das Éguas is perhaps the largest of the corral network of Vilar da Veiga, and is still used today. The meadow area is enclosed, and at its far northern end, alongside an imposing centenary oak, is located the only shelter within the corral, a small and simple construction that also takes advantage of part of a granite outcrop. We can try to imagine the life of the herdsmen during the time they spent in this corral, staying overnight between the walls of the small shelter after spending the day among the livestock.

In this corral there is a small font where we can take the opportunity to replenish water. Keep the gate closed.
