Ermida (Terras de Bouro)

Ermida, Terras de Bouro

Located in the folds of the Gerês mountain range at about 550 meters above sea level, on a slope exposed to the south and overlooking the Cávado River, Ermida proudly displays itself as a mountain village, with customs and community practices that have survived along generations. The community is occupied primarily with agropastoral and forestry activities that rely heavily on common land resources managed by those sharing these.

From the viewpoint of Ermida you can see the picturesque village with its small cluster of houses and other rural buildings, the patchwork of farmed fields with wooded areas, surrounded by the granite peaks and the valleys etched out by the rivers Arado, Fafião and Cávado.

As a result of its setting and landscape, resources and excellent natural conditions for the practice of mountain activities, the village of Ermida has become one of the most popular in the National Park. Above all it is known for its shepherds’ paths and upland corrals, viewpoints, waterfalls and natural lagoons.
