Take care to look out for the waymarks and signposts for the GR50 as there are several intersections and branches along this stage, as well as other waymarked routes. The signposts relating to the GR50 are clearly identified and, along this stage, are numbered from 6.1 to 6.35 (a numbered plate attached to the signpost or supporting post of the information panel or direction tag).

The walk starts from the Park Gate at Mezio, covering about 6.8 kilometers before you reach Soajo. After leaving the area of the Park Gate, follow the marks that lead you into the Mezio forest. After covering about 800 meters you will come to a fork. Take the right turn towards Soajo. You will pass behind the Mezio Equestrian Centre and 500 meters further ahead you come to the municipal road. Cross this and head towards Vilar de Suente, a hamlet that already lies within the parish of Soajo. Take the opportunity to look around the village and enjoy its traditional buildings, particularly the espigueiros (granaries) and traditional dwellings typical of the region. Leaving the settlement we go in the direction of Soajo, following along an old farm track with a granite slab pavement flanked by walls for most of the way. Whilst walking along this track you can enjoy the views over meadows belonging to various hamlets around Soajo. We pass the Lapa rivulet and its beautiful bridge, as well as passing through some leafy woodlands.

The route ends in the village of Soajo, which you should not miss visiting. You are recommended to visit the nucleus of espigueiros (classified as being of Public Interest), built on top of a gigantic granite slab, which are still used by the local community for drying maize. In the historic village centre - Largo do Eiró – discover the history of Soajo’s Pillory, visit the Parish Church and enjoy the traditional local architecture together with granite slabbed pavements and streets, which still preserve part of the medieval layout. In Soajo there are many village houses offering accommodation, restaurants offering typical local cuisine as well as some shops and other useful facilities.
